Longford County Council Election
Results 2009
The counting of votes in Longford County Council election will commence early in the afternoon of Saturday 6th June and will continute until all seats have been filled. The count centre in Longford will be at The Longford Sports & Leisure Centre in Longford Town. Full details of the count results are available below and as each count is completed and announced by the Returning Officer the results will be published below.
The results will be published for each count in each electoral area. To keep users informed of updates in each area and of what the latest events are at the count centre a text timeline of events will be published below. To access the latest count results for any particular area click on the link for the required area at the bottom of the page.

Monday 08-Jun
7:30pm - Counting has finished and the original result stands as it was after the seventh count.
3:30pm - Counting and rechecking of the votes is continuing. With over 6,300 votes to be checked this is a very long procedure. Current predictions of a completion of the process are for approx 6pm.
12:30pm - Counting and re-checking has begun
10:00am - Count staff have begun the recount process dealing first with administration issues.
12:13am - As a result of the seventh and final count a recount has been called by Seamus Butler. The recount will re-commence at 10:00am on Monday morning.
12:08am - Seventh Longford Count is declared.
Sunday 07-Jun.
11:26pm - Sixth Longford Count is declared.
10:18pm - Fifth count in Longford area is declared.
9:30pm - Longford area fourth count is announced.
8:54pm - Lonngford area thrid count declared
7:49pm - Longford area second count declared
7:02pm - Longford area first count declared
6:46pm - Longford area count 1 due before 7pm.
6:38pm - Granard 3rd Count declared
6:02pm - Granard 2nd Count declared
5:27pm - Granard 1st count declared.
4:30pm - First Granard result due very shortly
3:30pm - Ballymahon 8th and final count declared. All Ballymahon seats now filled
2:46pm - Ballymahon 7th count declared
2:35pm - Drumlish 4th Count declared. Drumlish area now complete and all 4 seats filled
2:25pm - Ballymahon 6th Count declared
1:47pm - Ballymahon 5th Count declared
1:35pm - Drumlish Count three declared.
1:10pm - Ballymahon 4th Count declared.
12:45pm Drumlish 2nd count declared.
12:00pm. Counting has recommenced in Drumlish and Ballymahon. Verification has begun in the Granard area.
Saturday 06-Jun.
12:32am Ballymahon 3rd count declared.
12:05am Drumlish 1st Count declared
11:45pm - Ballymahon count 2 declared.
11:00pm - Ballymahon area count 1 declared.
9:45pm - Counting and verification is continuing in the Drumlish and Ballymahon areas. In so far as is reasoable this will continue until later tonight and it is hoped to have declaration of the first count shortly. Counting in the Granard and Longford areas will commence to-morrow Sunday at 12:00pm.
4:15pm - Counting has commenced beginning with the Ballymahon Electoral Area.
9:00am - Scheduled time for opening of ballot boxes.
