The Local Government (Charges) Act 2009 introduces a €200 annual charge on non principal private residences, payable by the owner(s) of the NPPR to the Local Authority in whose area the property concerned is located. Payment of the charge can be made online at https://www.nppr.ie/ as can changes to the properties to be included in your NPPR account.

If you have a liability to pay the NPPR charge, it is recommended that you register on-line and make your payment electronically. You can do so by logging on to www.nppr.ie

The charge is payable mainly by the owners of rental property and holiday homes. It is also payable in respect of vacant privately owned residential property which is habitable. The owners of residential property are required to determine and declare their liability to the NPPR charge. No invoices or notices requiring payment will be issued by the local authorities.
Payment of the €200 charge for 2012 is due by 30th June, 2012. €20 late payment fee will apply in respect of each month or part of a month during which the charge remains unpaid. Detailed information on the charge is available at www.nppr.ie
Important Notes: If you are paying in person
The Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government has issued guidelines to Local Authorities for dealing with cases of persons experiencing genuine hardship to facilitate the discharging of arrears of N.P.P.R. charges and associated late payment fees.

If you own a property in Co. Longford and you have a query with regard to the payment of the charge please email nppr@longfordcoco.ie.
In some circumstances property owners may not have a liability to pay the charge. This may be because a property is either un-completed or derelict. If you own a property which was previously registered for the charge and you have determined that you do not now have a liability to pay the charge you should complete the relevant declaration form and return it to Longford County Council.
