The Strategy for County Longford.
The Strategy will provide a "Shared vision" for the development of County Longford for the next ten years, provide for a more strategic and integrated response to the challenges facing Longford and assist in shaping and developing the county for the future
- Vision meaning a broad sense of direction
- Shared meaning consensus on the framework
The Strategy will provide an opportunity for all sectors involved to bring together the plans and vision of all CDB member groups and agencies so as to agree a common approach, work within a shared framework and co-ordinate services at point of delivery.
The compilation of the strategy will be the result of an intensive process involving much local consultation. Some of the main areas covered will be:
- Economic Development - infrastructure; enterprise; tourism
- Social Development - housing; education; healthcare; social disadvantage and marginalisation; community development
- Cultural Development - sports & recreation; arts, heritage Whilst the strategy will have a ten year overall vision, it will be subject to on-going monitoring and evaluation and a mid term review. Shorter annual implementation programmes will also be incorporated thus allowing for flexibility without constant revision of the overall Strategy.
