Longford County Council Service Update

As Ireland progresses with implementation of Phase 1 of the Government’s easing the COVID-19 restrictions and reopen Ireland’s economy and society in a phased manner we have commenced implementation of the Local Authority Sector roadmap for the phased resumption of our services.

We have had changes to our service delivery due to the outbreak of COVID 19 with our focus during the restrictions on delivery of essential services.  A number of services were curtailed due to social / physical distancing and other guidance from the government and health experts.

The resumption and restart of work activities, previously curtailed, is now being phased in with each section delivering services in accordance with a COVID-19 Business Response Plan for the service area.  Each plan will reflect national, sectoral and local protocols and be supported by appropriate risk assessments specific to work area to ensure that each service area can adequately adjust to increasing activities in safe way.

Adequate control measures are in place to ensure the health and safety of employees, contractors and members of the public.

Service Activities Resumed and New Initiatives Introduced to Enhance Service Delivery

Our Roads Section, following induction training, for all Roads personnel, will recommence with all Roadworks operations in compliance with public health measures currently in place.

·         Grass cutting

·         Restoration improvement

·         Engagement of contractors to carry out works on roads, bridges, safety barriers, etc
