Ballyminion Regeneration Masterplan

Longford County Council have prepared a Draft Regeneration Masterplan for the Ballyminion Area of Longford Town. The Ballyminion area is designated as a strategic site within the Longford Town and Environs Local Area Plan 2016 – 2022. Strategic sites are areas that, if developed, have the potential to generate significant benefit for the town and County as a whole.

The Draft Regeneration Masterplan will look at the mix of uses in the area, pedestrian and vehicular movement and links to the town area, availability of services, infrastructure and amenity facilities within the existing land-use zoning framework, with the overall objective to improve quality of life in the area, the town and it‘s environs.

The assessments outlined hereunder have informed, directed and been incorporated into the Regeneration Masterplan

In accordance with the requirements of the European Communities (Environmental Assessment of certain plans and programmes) Regulations 2004 -2011, Longford County Council have prepared a Stage 1 Screening Report on the likely environmental effects of the Draft Regeneration Masterplan .
A Stage 1 Habitats Directive Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) has been carried out pursuant to Article 6 of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC).
Screening reports have determined that further assessment is not required. A copy of the reports and the reasons for this determination are available for public inspection with the Draft Regeneration Masterplan.

Longford County Council would like to thank those who have contributed to the plan to date and invites submissions on the Draft from Wednesday 15th May to Friday June 21st 2019. Written submissions or observations, including those made by children and/or groups/associations representing their interests, with respect to the Draft Regeneration Masterplan, made to Longford County Council within the said period, will be taken into consideration in advance of preparing a final Plan.
