The Walks, Edgeworthstown, officially re-opened

The Walks reimagined, is a collaborative project between Edgeworthstown Tidy Towns, the Health Service Executive  (HSE), Longford County Council  – Ballymahon Municipal District.  The Walks opened in 1982 formalising a pass created in the 1960’s.  The Walks was a vital link in Edgeworthstown avoiding what was a dangerous Granard road junction for children going to school.  The old Walks had become over grown and prone to flooding in the winter making it impassable at certain times of the year.  In 2019, Edgeworthstown Tidy Towns, the Health Service Executive, Longford County Council – Ballymahon Municipal District and private landowners came together with a vision to create a walkway in 2020, with 300 metres of cycle track linking the School, Creche and Community Centre to Devine Crescent.

The Walks was re-opened by the Mayor of Longford Councillor Paul Ross with Tom Dooley & John Cahill, Edgeworthstown Tidy Towns.
