Welcome to Longford County Council Arts Office pages. Longford County Council established the County Arts Office in November 1996 with the financial support of the Arts Council.
While the activities of the Arts Office are continuously evolving as new and unanticipated opportunities to work with artists, arts organisations, community groups and development agencies arise, the core activities of the Arts Office are;
- Provision of information and advice – the Arts Office advises Longford County Council on all matters relating to the arts, the Arts Office acts as a contact point for information on such issues as professional development, project planning, funding opportunities for artists, arts organisations and community groups.
- Project development – On occasions when the Arts Office identifies gaps in provision for the arts sector it initiates and develops projects.
- Financial Support – a range of grant schemes are administered by the Arts Office to individuals and groups, these include: Arts Act Grants, Residencies, Project Funds and Bursaries.
- Research – the Arts Office drafts various art-form development plans and strategies as well as carrying out research and preparing reports for the County Council and the Arts Council
