Healthy Ireland is a government led initiative aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of everyone living in Ireland. Healthy Ireland, through the Longford Local Community Development Fund and Longford County Council has provided funding to support local organisations in delivering actions which will improve health and wellbeing in line with Healthy Ireland, A Framework for Improved Health and Wellbeing 2013 – 2025.
In the current climate with the pressures of Covid 19 it is important that we all maintain a healthy lifestyle as much as possible.

The Longford Healthy County Plan has been developed by the Local Community Development Committee and the Healthy Longford Steering Group. It reflects core concerns about current health and wellbeing in our county. The plan supports the implementation of Healthy Ireland, the national health and wellbeing framework, at the local level to improve the health and wellbeing of all in County Longford.The vision of the Plan is to create a county where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health, where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society.
The Longford Healthy County Plan 2018-2022 was officially launched by Minister Catherine Byrne, Minister of State for Health Promotion and the National Drugs Strategy , on Wednesday 9th January 2019 in the Aras An Chontae.
