Corlea Amenity Walkway Project

Corlea Amenity Walkway Project aims to develop a walkway and tourist attraction around Corlea Bog and Trackway Centre, which is a key part of the Mid Shannon Wilderness Park

Constructed through 70 acres of bog land which Bord na Mona are currently managing to return to a natural and semi-wild condition. The walkway will add to the Corlea Trackway Centre's 30 acres of natural bog land, making a total 100 acre bog land park set within a natural setting of lake, bog and forest. This walkway will have small activity areas and viewing points on the route and enhance the tourism and economic potential of the area. It will also provide a very important refuge for wild animals, plants and birds.

This is a collaboration between Keenagh Co-op, Wetlands Heritage Ireland, Bord na Mona, Office of Public Works and Longford County Council. Keenagh Co-Op and Wetlands Heritage Ireland have been instrumental in planning and delivering this project. Bord na Mona have provided the land, expertise and equipment to deliver the walkway. Longford County Council are managing the funding and delivery of the project which will be a very important project for the future of County Longford.
