Longford County Council Logo and Website Launch

Longford County Council's rebranding as a modern, dynamic organisation took a step forward with the launch of its new logo and website: Longfordcoco.ie.

Designed by local graphic designer Noel Strange, the new Longford County Council logo places a strong emphasis on the Council's relationship with Longford's citizens, with the different towns and villages, as well as highlighting the Council's focus on delivering opportunities for growth and development. Encapsulating the County's historical significance together with its future potential, the design presents a sense of vibrancy that we want to portray to the outside world. Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon speaking on the new logo said: 'it emphasises on connectedness will form the bedrock of our relationship with all partners going forward’.

The new website Longfordcoco.ie, unveiled at Longford County Council's January meeting, drew much praise for its user-friendly interface and navigation. With a primary focus on the Council's services, Longfordcoco.ie also reflects the changing user environment. Understanding 40% of website users come from mobile and tablet devices, Longfordcoco.ie is responsive to the device it is being viewed on. Updates to the online mapping and social media integration are also new additions to the Council website. Elected Members of Longford County Council were unanimous in their praise with Cathaoirleach Cllr Mick Cahill commenting that ‘it is an honour to oversee the modernisation of the Council logo and website’.

The new website will ensure open and effective communication with stakeholders, including helping to keep the public informed on Council initiatives, events or activities. The new release is the first in a series of new websites that Longford County Council will roll out in the coming weeks with Longford Libraries website and Longford.ie to follow.
