DreamBig Programme

DreamBig, led by the Advanced Technologies in Manufacturing (ATIM) cluster, responds to the skills challenge of the manufacturing sector, to inspire, engage, and support young people (aged 15-17) pursue advanced manufacturing as a career. The programme creates awareness, provides practical experiences, and creates pathways to learn about the practices of manufacturing SMEs in their region. The "Dream" of the title represents key technologies in these industries - Digitalisation, Robotics, Engineering, Automation, and Manufacturing.
In November 2024, 24 Longford post-primary students embarked on a week-long experience, visiting five Longford manufacturing companies to gain an in-depth understanding of how advanced manufacturing machinery, vision systems, and technologies are used in their day-to-day operations. Students then participated in interactive workshops
The week culminated in a presentation in Technical University of the Shannon (TUS) Athlone, where all DreamBig students from each of the four participating midlands counties (Longford, Westmeath, Laois and Offaly) came together to discuss their learnings from the week.
