Committees and Groups

Longford County Council performs a substantial amount of work through different committees. Our committees allow for detailed examination of a topic considered important to our County. Some of these committees are established by law, while others are from decisions of council.  

Strategic Policy Committees

Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) are tasked with advising and assisting the Council in the formulate, evaluate and report on policy. Longford County Council has four SPCs: on Climate Action, Strategic Infrastructure, Placemaking, and Governance. Find out more about Longford's SPCs

Longford Local Community Development Committee

Longford Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) works to develop, coordinate and implement a coherent and integrated approach to local and community development. Longford LCDC has advanced different initiatives, including the LEADER programme and the Local Economic and Community Plan. Find out more about Longford LCDC

Public Participation Network

Longford Public Participation Network (PPN) links the Council with the community, voluntary, social inclusion and environmental sectors. PPNs allow the diversity of voices and interests to be facilitated and involved in the decision-making process. Find out more about Longford's PPN

Local Sports Partnership

Longford Local Sports Partnership (LSP) works towards increasing participation in sport and physical recreation. The LSP also aims to ensure that local amenities are used to the best effect for local people and sporting groups. Find out more about Longford LSP

Joint Policing Committee

Longford Joint Policing Committee (JPC) has been replaced by the Longford Local Community Safety Partnership. This is a pilot new initiative by the Department of Justice. However, information on the JPC, including its publications and meetings' agendas and minutes, are still available to view here
