Covid 19 Notice
As providers of essential services, the offices of Longford County Council will remain open. However, in line with current public health guidance, Longford County Council is encouraging the public to contact the offices by email, phone or online. Meetings and visits to the Council offices can be facilitated in exceptional circumstances only. Such meetings should be prearranged and by appointment only and will be held in compliance with public health guidance.
Those attending physical meetings must complete a pre-meeting COVID-19 questionnaire. Where meetings are anticipated to last longer than 15 minutes the convener of the meeting must ensure that a contact list is maintained. Face masks must be worn in the public areas. Physical distancing protocols must be adhered to and appropriate sanitising facilities will be available. All safety measures and protocols must be adhered to.

Environment Section Services:
Major industries and major waste facilities are licensed by the Environment Protection Agency, E.P.A. The Environment Section monitors and controls industries and waste activities that fall beneath the E.P.A.'s remit and an assortment of essential environmental services. These activities are:

- Air Pollution Monitoring & Control
- Waste Management Plan Implementation
- Litter Control & Tidy Towns
- Waste Management Permitting & Enforcement
- Environmental Awareness & Education
- Burial Grounds
- Animal Control
- Derelict Sites and Dangerous Structures
- County Veterinary Office
- Rural Water Programme
Staff in the section include a Scientific Officer, Environmental Awareness Officer, Engineers, Environmental Technicians and Farm Inspectors and Administrative staff. Staff are based in the Council Offices at Great Water Street and in the Council Laboratory on Park Road, Longford.
