Ericsson INFUSE

The Ericsson INFUSE (Investing in future Software Engineers) programme is committed to developing the next generation of software engineers, by focusing on a range on initiatives that focus on encouraging exploration of software ideas and methodologies, with the aim of motivating students of all levels to consider a career in technology and software engineering.
Ericsson's Transition Year programme has been running since 1993, and includes a week long schedule of activities designed to teach students a combination of programming, uses of technology and presentation skills. Students come away with a better understanding of the day-to-day work life of a software engineer with Ericsson, and the types of challenges faced by cutting-edge companies like Ericsson.
In October 2024, 23 Transition Year students from our Longford schools were extremely lucky to get a chance to spend a week working amongst Ericsson's software engineers and learning from them each and every day. Each group of students worked on a project which introduced them to coding skills like HTML, CSS, and Javascript, before having to present their learnings to their peers and members of the Ericsson INFUSE team.
Due to the incredible interest in the program from Longford students, Ericsson kindly invited a further 20 students to enjoy a one-day workshop in the their Athlone offices, where students got a brief taster of the work that goes on in the life of a software engineer.
