Public Consultation: Draft Casual Trading Byelaws 2026

Longford County Council invites members of the public to have their say on the Draft Casual Trading Byelaws, in accordance with the Casual Trading Act 1995.

Viewing the Draft Byelaws

The Draft Casual Trading Byelaws are available for public inspection from 19 November 2025 to 21 December 2025 at the following locations:

  • Áras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford, N39 NH56
  • Public Libraries in Ballymahon, Edgeworthstown, Granard, Lanesboro, and Longford
  • Online via the Longford County Council website

Hard copies can be requested free of charge by contacting the Environment Section at 043 33 434 62 or environment@longfordcoco.ie.

The final date and time for submissions is 3:00pm on 11 January 2026.

 

Right of Appeal

Any person aggrieved by the proposed byelaws (excluding those referenced in subsection 2(d) of the Casual Trading Act, 1995) may, within 21 days of the local authority complying with subsection (6), appeal to the District Court. The Court may prohibit the proposed byelaws or authorise them subject to conditions as it considers appropriate.
