Safe & Sound Safety Training

For the next 12 months, businesses and workers in the nine Night-Time Economy Pilot locations, including Longford Town, will get free online access to practical training on keeping people safe at night.

The training is designed for anyone working in nightlife settings, including pubs, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, theatres, cultural venues, festivals, gyms, taxi services, and more.

What the Training Covers

The express, 30-minute online modules cover key safety topics such as:

  • Preventing sexual harassment

  • Bystander intervention - how to safely step in and support

  • Drink spiking awareness - prevention and response

  • Safeguarding vulnerable people

  • Addressing violence against women and girls

The training helps workers understand their responsibilities, duty of care, and the steps they can take to reduce risks and keep everyone safe.

Nationwide Resources & Policy Templates

Alongside the training, Safe & Sound provides a set of 17 practical policy templates for nightlife businesses nationwide.

These templates are tailored to Irish laws and real-life scenarios and cover topics such as:

  • Sexual harassment prevention

  • Violence against women and girls

  • Bystander intervention

  • Drink spiking response

  • Safeguarding and vulnerability

  • Mental health support

  • Drugs and alcohol use

  • Dispersal management

  • Crime scene preservation

These policies give frontline staff, managers, and venue owners clear guidance to improve safety and wellbeing for both workers and customers.
