732 Longford businesses received €2,077,215 under the Increased Cost of Business grant scheme

Part of the 74,716 businesses across the county that received €241.68m under the scheme

Longford County Council has announced that 732 businesses in County Longford have received €2,077,215 in grant funding under the Government’s Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) scheme.

The ICOB grant was designed by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment to help SMEs with the increased costs associated with running a business and was administered by the Local Authorities.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke said, “I was delighted to get Government approval for this important Scheme to help small and medium enterprises who are the backbone of our economy. I have spoken to dozens of businesses around the county here and am delighted that 732 of them availed of €2.077m worth of grants and we will continue to work with and support these businesses. I would also like to acknowledge the work of Longford County Council in administering the Scheme and thank all the staff involved. They have contributed hugely to the success of ICOB.”

Longford Chief Executive Officer Paddy Mahon said, “It is heartening to see so many of our small and medium businesses in Longford avail of the ICOB grant to assist with the increased costs associated with running a business.  It is great to see Government supporting these businesses during difficult times and I’m delighted that Longford County Council could assist 732 local businesses by administering this scheme.”

A total of €257 million was made available under the Increased Cost of Business scheme.
