Be active in 2022 with Sports Partnership and Longford parkrun

Press Release
14 February 2022
Longford Sports Partnership is encouraging people to get out and get active over the coming months with a range of opportunities now available to register for.
First of all, the team are encouraging people to join them over the next seven weeks for their Spring Walking Series.
A walk is scheduled to take place on one of Longford’s picturesque walking trails each Sunday morning. The series of events will all build-up to Saturday, 2 April when two walks will take place at Longford’s highest points: Corn Hill and Brí Leith Ardagh. This date is coinciding with the Climb With Charlie charity events taking place across Ireland.
The Climb With Charlie fundraiser is being led by Charlie Bird and supports two charities, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta.
People can register for individual walks on the Spring Walking Series or for all of the Longford-based walks through Eventbrite by visiting LongfordSports.ie.
Operation Transformation 5K
This year the Operation Transformation 5K run is taking place at locations across the country, on Saturday, 19 February in association with parkrun Ireland.
Operation Transformation aims to inspire the nation to focus on health and fitness and set some goals for a very different kind of new year.
You can join the Operation Transformation 5K Run at 9:30am in the Albert Reynolds Peace Park (Mall Complex) in Longford on Saturday, 19 February and experience the wonderful atmosphere at your local Longford parkrun.
It’s a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit, and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether they walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. The parkrun is a free, weekly, community event that takes place all around the world. Longford Parkrun is your opportunity to begin your journey into regular exercise within your own supportive community.
So run, jog or walk the Operation Transformation 5K on Saturday, 19 February at 9:30am with Longford parkrun.
