Free advice for homeowners on retrofitting and grants at the first Energy Roadshow in Longford

Takes place from Monday, 25 to Friday, 29 November in Connolly Barracks

Longford's first ever Energy Roadshow is set to take place in Connolly Barracks from Monday, 25 to Friday, 29 November. 

The Energy Roadshow will be opened at 12.30pm on Monday, 25 November by Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Mark Casey and Chief Executive Paddy Mahon. 

This event is organised by Longford County Council, in conjunction with Mount Lucas National Construction Training Campus and the sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The SEAI and representatives from the banking sector will be in attendance to share information on energy grants and finance options. The Men's Shed and Age Friendly Ireland will be among other organisations in attendance. 

Homeowners are encouraged to drop in anytime to avail of free advice and have the opportunity to ask any questions on retrofitting, solar panels, and energy grants and loans. There are also scheduled talks taking place throughout the week including: 

  • SEAI Talk on Grants and Energy Savings: takes place on Tuesday, 26 November at 3pm 
  • Retrofit for Homeowners: which takes place on Tuesday, 26 November from 4-6pm and again on Thursday, 28 November from 5-6.30pm. Prior registration required, email gbrady@longfordcoco.ie
  • Circular Economy Introduction: takes place on Thursday, 28 November from 2-4pm. Prior registration required, email gbrady@longfordcoco.ie

Businesses will also be able to avail of the advice of energy experts in attendance and there is an Overview for Energy Audits for SMEs at 11am on Friday, 29 November. No prior registration is required for this free talk. 

Speaking ahead of the Roadshow, Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Mark Casey said, "I would encourage everyone to make some time to drop into this event as it is a great chance to get free advice from energy experts who can show you how to improve your home or business to help you to save energy, save money and help to save our environment."

Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon added, "It is great to welcome this Energy Roadshow to County Longford. Through our Climate Action team and the commitments outlined in our Climate Action Plan, the Council is working to raise awareness of what we can all do to tackle climate change and help us all to save energy and cut carbon emissions in line with national targets."
