Granard company Enplast Extrusions to be the first in the country to recycle election posters
The company were recently approved for Waste Facility Permit for this circular economy initiative

Enplast Extrusions Ltd are set to become the first company in the country to recycle hundreds of Local and European Election posters for use within the construction industry. This work begins after the Granard company's successful application to Longford County Council for a Waste Facility Permit, which was approved in October 2024.
An example of the circular economy in action, the used election posters will be ground into pellets. These pellets will then become part of heavy gauge sheeting which will be used in the construction industry in both Ireland and the United Kingdom. Longford County Council granted temporary permission for Enplast Extrusion Ltd to store the used election posters from the recent Elections.
Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Mark Casey said, "It is great to see this local Granard company see success with their new innovative service. I encourage all candidates in the upcoming General Election to consider the sustainable option available to them through Enplast in the recycling of their posters."
Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon added, "This is a great example of the circular economy in action with the reuse of materials to create new raw materials for the construction industry. The Council, through our Environment team, is proud to support Enplast Extrusion in their work for the betterment of our environment."
Enplast Extrusions Ltd. Managing Director Trevor Enright said, "Enplast would like to encourage election candidates to fully embrace the service we offer to recycle their printed election posters. Printed polypropylene is recycled in Enplast and reused in a construction sheet which is sold in the Irish and UK market, thus promoting a circular economy."
