Grant funding now open for Culture Night 2026 in County Longford

Celebrating the richness and diversity of culture and creativity

Press Release: Wednesday, 17 June 2026

County Longford Arts Service and Night-Time Economy Longford are inviting individuals and organisations to apply for grant funding for Culture Night 2026 which takes place on Friday, 18 September.

Individuals or organisations who wish to become involved are encouraged to apply to Longford County Council Arts Office this month to be considered for funding approval. Culture Night celebrates the growing eclectic diversity of arts, culture, and creativity right across Ireland.

This popular event happens every September and is made possible by the hard work and commitment by different creatives, volunteers, artists, galleries, museums, workshops, sports clubs, libraries and more. Last year 24 separate events were held in County Longford as part of Culture Night.

This year Night-Time Economy Longford is providing additional funding for artists and culture organisations who wish to deliver night-time events in Longford Town after 6pm.

There is a limited grant fund available to support individuals or organisations with the delivery of their event. The grant may cover costs such as venue rental, publicity, equipment hire and payment of artists.

Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Gary Murtagh said, “I encourage all local artists, community groups and cultural organisations to apply for grant funding to bring their creative ideas to life so that everyone can experience the magic of Culture Night.”

Chief Executive of Longford County Council, Paddy Mahon said, “Culture Night is a powerful reminder of the creativity, diversity and community spirit that thrives across our county. It is a night when we celebrate the talents of our artists, performers and cultural groups and invite everyone to come together in shared appreciation of the rich cultural heritage that defines us.”

Longford County Council Arts Officer, Shane Crossan said, "Culture Night is one night for us all to come together for a shared experience celebrating the richness and diversity of culture, creativity and the arts from town to town, city to city and coast to coast.”

The deadline for submission of grant applications is Friday, 10 July at 5pm.  Longford County Council and Longford Arts Service will also support Culture Night projects by uploading events into the national Culture Night website portal, by amplifying social media posts and including events in an advert in The Longford leader. Culture Night activities in Longford are funded by Longford County Council, The Arts Council of Ireland and The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport.
