Longford LCSP appeals for feedback through Community Safety Survey

Longford Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is urging people to share their views on safety in their communities by completing the Community Safety Survey.

The LCSP is encouraging everyone to participate but at this stage, is particularly keen to hear from individuals and businesses with crime and safety concerns. LCSP is also urging new residents of Longford, members of the Traveller Community and ethnic minority groups to take part. Community and voluntary groups and people who work in County Longford are also asked to participate.

All survey responses are strictly anonymous, and participants must be over 18. This survey is part of the public consultation process and will help in the development of a Community Safety Plan for County Longford. It allows the public to share their safety concerns and priorities.

Longford LCSP Independent Chairperson Martina Moloney appealed to people to get involved, ‘Longford Local Community Safety Partnership is anxious to hear your views on community safety in Longford to help us plan appropriate responses. This is your chance to have your voice heard. Please complete the survey, it only takes a few minutes”.

Longford Garda Superintendent Seamus Boyle, who is a member of the LCSP said, “An Garda Síochána in Longford is committed to working with the LCSP to improve community safety. We want to hear what people see as the priority issues in Longford. We can then collaborate with our other partners and services to build confidence for communities.”

Karen Reilly is an Integration/Development Worker with Bridgeways Family Resource Centre in Ballymahon and the Community Vice Chair with LCSP. "Longford's growing and diverse population has made integration more important than ever. We need to build connections and work together collectively to recognise the importance of early intervention services for children and young people especially.”

“This survey gives us the chance to tackle some of the challenges in our communities. It's time to rethink the reactive model and look at early intervention and prevention as a non-negotiable starting point," she explained.

Statutory Vice Chair Cllr Seamus Butler added, “This survey is just the start of the work that Longford LCSP is undertaking to help people feel safe where they live, work and socialise in County Longford.”

“This Partnership is the future of policing in Longford. The survey will feed into the Community Safety Plan which will very much present Longford as a safe and economically advantageous location for investment. Every business should contribute their views so we can ensure we are doing all we can to safeguard the future economic development of the county.”
