Dog owners are asked to practice responsible dog ownership ahead of a busy lambing season. While much loved family pets, dogs can cause serious harm to sheep and lambs, devastating farmers, their families and their livelihoods.  

County Longford 2021 dog attack statistics emphases the need for responsible dog ownership. Last year, five serious dog attacks on sheep took place in the County, with three resulting in sheep deaths. This year all dog owners are urged to help make sure that 2022 statistics will be much improved on last year’s figures.

Please be extra vigilant and responsible in relation to keeping your dog under control at all times in County Longford, especially during lambing season and Spring 2022.
