Longford County Council is set to launch a new social media campaign, Love Life Love Longford, aimed at celebrating the many positive stories, people and places that make Longford a great place to live, work, visit and invest. The campaign is due to launch online on Tuesday, 9 June.

The campaign, led by the Council’s Communications Team and spearheaded by Cllr Peggy Nolan, will run for an eight-week period, beginning on Tuesday, 9 June. It will feature a series of short video messages from Longford Municipal District Councillors, well‑known Longford figures and members of the public.  A key aim of the campaign is to counter negative perceptions by highlighting real, local experiences and encouraging pride in the county.

Members of the public are invited to take part by sharing short videos explaining why they love Longford, tagging Longford County Council and Longford Tourism, and using the hashtag #LoveLifeLoveLongford

Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Cllr Garry Murtagh, said, “Longford is more than a town – it is a county made up of vibrant communities and fantastic people. Our vision is to make Longford a place where people can live, work, invest, visit and grow old. There are real opportunities here, and strong supports to back them up. This campaign encourages people to look around their own parishes and communities and take pride in all that is happening.”

Cllr Peggy Nolan said, “This campaign is our opportunity to answer the naysayers and those who run down our town by putting the truth out there. With the support of Longford County Council and Longford Tourism, we can challenge the negativity and replace it with pride and positivity. I am calling on people to get involved, say it loud and say it proud – Longford is open for business and Longford is a place we can all be proud of.”

Chief Executive of Longford County Council, Paddy Mahon, said, “Love Life Love Longford is about giving people a platform to speak for themselves about what makes Longford special. By sharing everyday stories and positive experiences, we are helping to build confidence in Longford and showing the reality of life here – a county with strong communities, ambition and potential.”

Longford County Council will reshare public submissions where content aligns with its social media policy and quality standards.
