N4 Mullingar to Longford Update
N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) Project Progresses to Next Phase of Development
Longford County Council, in partnership with Westmeath County Council and supported by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), is pleased to provide an update on the N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) Project.
Following the publication of the Preferred Option in 2025, the project has now advanced to Phase 3: Design and Environmental Evaluation. This phase includes the continued development of the emerging design, alongside a comprehensive programme of engineering, environmental, and technical assessments.
As part of the next stage of the project, the project team will engage directly with landowners who may be impacted by the emerging design. These engagements will provide an opportunity to discuss proposals in detail, outline potential impacts, and gather valuable feedback to help inform the ongoing design process.
In addition, public information events will be held later this summer, providing members of the public and other stakeholders with an opportunity to learn more about the project, review the latest developments, and share their views.
The N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) Project aims to:
• Improve road safety along the route
• Enhance connectivity and accessibility across the region
• Support sustainable transport objectives
• Facilitate regional economic development and growth
• Improve quality of life for local communities
Longford County Council and Westmeath County Council remain committed to meaningful engagement with communities, landowners, stakeholders, and the wider public throughout the development of the project.
