New exhibition by Edgeworthstown Library Photography Club

Through an Irish Lens

Longford County Council will host ‘Through an Irish Lens,’ the latest exhibition of photographs by the Edgeworthstown Library Photography Club. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, 5 May at 5:30pm in Longford Branch Library, and showcases images of Irish life — captured and framed by club members whose eye for the everyday has produced works of real quality. The official launch will be followed by a Photography Club Walk along the Mall at 6.30pm which is open to members of the public.

Founded in February 2024, the club brings together a wide range of photographers — from those taking their first steps with a smartphone camera to others working with professional-grade DSLR equipment. What connects them is not the equipment, but a shared belief that a single image, well taken, can stop time in its tracks.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public will run from Tuesday, 5 May until Friday, 16 May. All are welcome. 

Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Cllr Garry Murtagh said, " This exhibition is proof that art is not the preserve of galleries in capital cities. Edgeworthstown's photographers have found something worth seeing in the ordinary everyday reality of Irish life. I am proud that Longford County Council can give their work the platform it deserves."
