Over €530,000 allocated to County Longford as part of CLÁR 2022 funding
15 sports clubs, schools, and community groups to benefit from funding

Longford County Council is delighted to confirm just over €530,000 (€530,140.16) in CLÁR 2022 funding for 15 projects in County Longford, as announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD.

This funding is as part of CLÁR Measure 1 funding which focuses on developing community facilities and amenities. It provides grants of up to €50,000 for sports clubs, schools and community groups for projects which will benefit local people. Successful County Longford projects are as follows:

The CLÁR programme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, and administered by local authorities, including Longford County Council. A targeted investment
programme for rural areas, it provides funding for small infrastructural projects in designated rural areas.

Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Turlough McGovern said, “On behalf of Longford County Council, I welcome this announcement of CLÁR 2022 funding for fifteen local projects. These projects will benefit many communities and age groups in County Longford. Investment is towards very worthwhile projects including sports facilities, outdoor performance areas and sensory gardens, and will positively impact on the lives of our citizens. We wish all applicants every success delivering their projects.”

Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon added, “Longford County Council welcomes this announcement of significant funding across County Longford. The Council will further support these projects by providing funding contributions of up to 5%. We congratulate all successful applications which span across County Longford. We look forward to seeing new and improved facilities spring up around our county on the back of this funding.”
