Public meeting at Granard Library to begin the formation of a Granard Town Team
Hosted by Longford County Council Town Centre First team on Wednesday, 12 February at 7pm
A public meeting to begin the formation of a Granard Town Centre First Town Team will take place in Granard Library at 7pm on Wedneday, 12 February. This meeting is organised by Longford County Council's Town Centre First team. All are welcome to attend.
This Granard Town Centre First Town Team (also called the Granard Town Team) will lead the development and implementation of the Granard Town Centre First Plan. This sets out a plan for the revitalisation of town centres. It aims to promote vibrant, sustainable, attractive living, working, and visiting spaces while addressing town centre decline. Town Centre First is an initiative of the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Department of Housing.
The Granard Town Team will be made up of local residents, business people, community representatives and other stakeholders. Longford County Council and the Town Team will seek to secure Department of Rural and Community Development funding through various schemes to deliver on the aims and objectives of the Granard Town Centre First Plan.
The Town Team's aims are to make Granard town a better place to live, work, visit and invest. The group will be inclusive and represent diverse sectors and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn of the role that they can play in being part of the new Granard Town Team.
Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Mark Casey encouraged the public to get involved in this meeting. “It is really important we get as many people across the community to get involved in this public meeting so we can get as wide a representation as possible when we are forming the Granard Town Team. This will greatly benefit Granard with the implementation of the Town Centre First policy.”
Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon said, “The Council, through our Town Centre First team, are working with the local community to implement Town Centre First policies to help to revitalise our towns. We look forward to seeing the involvement of the public at this public meeting in Granard Library.”
This public meeting takes place at Granard Library, Market House, Granard, County Longford, N39 D2N4 at 7pm, Wednesday, 12 February 2025. All are welcome to attend.
