Press Release
14 November 2022

Longford County Council is delighted to host the ‘Souvenirs from the Flatlands’ exhibition, opening on Friday 25 November at 7pm in the Providers building in Longford Town. All are welcome to attend.

This exhibition showcases a collection of works from Emily and Grace Brennan, who hail from Lanesborough in County Longford. The exhibition is being funded and hosted by Longford County Arts Services, part of Longford County Council.

County Longford is seen consistently throughout the exhibition, as the Brennan sisters returned to their homeplace for artistic inspiration. Their works offer explorations of place which are both deeply personal and concerned with environmental issues. Emily offers an examination of local systems and environmental impacts, while Grace’s works concentrate on landscapes, childhood and memory.

Both Emily and Grace graduated from fine art courses and currently live and work in Dublin. Emily is a co-founder and director of BKB Visual Arts Studio in Glasnevin. She has recently completed a Masters in Cultural Policy. Grace is a member of Block T artists’ studios in Dublin. She works there on her preliminary painting-based practice.

The ‘Souvenirs from the Flatlands’ exhibition runs until Thursday, 1 December. For further information, check out Longfordcoco.ie or follow Longford County Council on social media.
