The late Fergus Kennedy

It was with great sadness that Longford County Council learned of the sad and untimely death of our colleague and friend Fergus Kennedy.

Fergus died suddenly but peacefully on Friday, 31 March. Since November 1996, Fergus, as the Arts Officer in Longford County Council, was a great supporter and promoter of the arts and was well respected throughout the wider arts community. He has left a great legacy, bringing the arts, in many forms, to communities across the county and will be remembered fondly by those who worked with him.

Fergus will be reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5pm, concluding with prayers at 7pm. Longford County Council elected members and employees will form a guard of honour on Wednesday as Fergus makes his final journey for private cremation. The Council Offices and Libraries will be closed to the public as a mark of respect on Wednesday morning, reopening at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Longford County Council extends its deepest sympathies to Fergus’ family, colleagues, and many friends at this very sad time.

Rest in Peace Fergus.
