Storm Barra - Latest Updates

Following high winds from Storm Barra overnight, Longford County Council can confirm that there are a significant number of fallen trees throughout the county of Longford with some causing obstruction to roads. Crews are clearing them as quickly as they can. 

There is one report of a fallen tree with ESB Lines entangled in the Bornacoola area, which has been referred to ESB to deal with.

All falling trees and debris as a result of Storm Barra have been dealt with in Longford and Longford County Council have no flooding issues to report. 

Wednesday 8 December - Updates

12.47pm Emergency Road Closure due to Flooding

Please note as follows details of the proposed Emergency Road Closure:

Road: L-10152 in the townlands of Fardromin and Creelaughta due to the “Black River” having burst its banks during Storm Barra and presents a risk to road users.

The road will be closed from Mulleady’s House to the Junction with the L-1015 (98 Bar to Drumlish Road).  This Closure will remain in place until flooding subsides. 

Road users should detour via Ballinamuck Village/Gauige Cross.
