Water Notice

Due to a large number of burst pipes throughout the county, Irish Water and Longford County Council are experiencing difficulties in maintaining supplies to large parts of the county. We would ask that key holders and owners of vacant properties check their premises for bursts. We would also ask that farmers check all land and shed connections for bursts as we have come across a large number of these.

Currently, there is extremely high demand for water supplies in Longford Town, Ballymakeegan, Ballinalee, Newtownforbes, Drumlish, Clondra, Granard, Aughnacliff, Abbeyshrule, Ballymahon,  Lanesboro and Newtowncashel areas. Reservoir levels are low in all of these areas and until there is a significant reduction in usage there will be nighttime shutdowns in some areas. Reservoir outlets and water lines will be turned off at night from 11.00pm to 6.30am to conserve water for the day.

Irish Water and Longford County Council apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks consumers for their help at this time.
