We're Breastfeeding Friendly Longford is supported by Healthy Longford through Healthy Ireland funding. It is an initiative of the Longford Breastfeeding Project. The launch event took place during National Breastfeeding Week.

Speaking at the launch Longford County Council Leas Cathaoirleach Cllr Peggy Nolan said, "It is great to be here to see so many young families being supported by the We're Breastfeeding Friendly Longford initiative. It is important for women to feel at ease when out and about with their young children. I look forward to seeing more from this initiative as it progresses into the future, and I thank everyone involved and all who have come along to show support."

Longford County Council Chief Executive Paddy Mahon added, "This is an important initiative supported by the Council, through Healthy Longford. It is one of the many steps the Council is working on to ensure Longford is a county for everyone."

Longford County Council's Healthy Longford Coordinator Laura McHugh added "We have worked with groups and agencies right across Longford and the wider region to ensure this project serves mothers and young families. We look forward to creating more safe and comfortable feeding spaces available to help people with young kids when they are out and about."
