Register to Vote
To vote in an election or referendum, you must be 18 years old or older on the date of the election or the referendum, be a resident in Ireland and registered with your Local Authority on the Register of Electors.
To register to vote, visit checktheregister.ie. To do this, you will need your PPSN and Eircode. This is aimed at enhancing the accuracy of the register of electors.
Complete Your Details
Everyone is being asked to check and complete their details by adding their PPSN, date of birth and Eircode. This helps ensure that the electoral register is accurate.
Update Your Details
If you have recently moved or need to update your name, you can now do so online at Check The Register. You can use the online option if you have your PPSN and Eircode.
Pre-registration for 16 and 17 year olds
You can now register to vote if you are aged 16 or over; however, you will not be able to vote until you turn 18. This means that you will automatically move to the electoral register once you reach the age of 18. Please visit checktheregister.ie to register your details.

How can I vote?
There are different arrangements in place to facilitate you to vote depending on your circumstances, for example, you may be eligible to vote by post, or you may qualify to have a companion who can help you mark the ballot paper.
