Upcoming General Election 2024

The General Election will take place on Friday, 29 November 2024.

Polling Stations Open from 7am to 10pm.

The closing date to register to vote for the upcoming election is Tuesday, 12 November 2024.

The closing date to register for a postal or special vote for the upcoming election is Sunday, 10 November 2024.

Polling Station Changes

Voters are reminded that some polling station locations in the greater Longford Town area and Cullyfad have changed:

Longford town and its environs were divided into four new Polling Districts: Longford Central North, Longford Central West, Longford Central East and Longford Central South
The polling location for Corboy electors was changed from St Joseph’s National School to Cullyfad Community Centre

Please check your polling information card to make sure you are going to the correct location to cast your vote in the General Election on Friday, 29 November.

It is important to note that the Teagasc Office in Longford Town is no longer in use as a polling station. As above, details of your new polling station location are included on your polling information card.

Check you are registered to vote

It is the responsibility of each individual to check to ensure they are Registered to vote and that their details are correct.

The closing date to register to vote for the upcoming election is Tuesday, 12 November 2024.

The closing date to register for a postal or special vote for the upcoming election is Sunday, 10 November 2024.

The easiest way to check and update your details is by logging on to CheckTheRegister.ie.

To vote in the upcoming General Election you must be:

An Irish or British Citizen
At least 18 years of age on polling day
Ordinarily resident at the address in the constituency in which you wish to vote
Your name must be on the Register of Electors
