Upcoming Local Elections and European Parliament Elections
The Local Elections and European Parliament Elections will take place on Friday, 7 June 2024.
Polling Stations Open from 7am to 10pm.
The closing date to register to vote for the upcoming elections is Monday 20 May 2024.
Polling Station Changes
Voters are reminded that some polling station locations in the greater Longford Town area and Cullyfad have changed:
- Longford town and its environs were divided into four new Polling Districts: Longford Central North, Longford Central West, Longford Central East and Longford Central South
- The polling location for Corboy electors was changed from St Joseph’s National School to Cullyfad Community Centre
Please check your polling information card to make sure you are going to the correct location to cast your vote in the Local Elections and European Parliament Elections on Friday, 7 June.

It is important to note that the Teagasc Office in Longford Town is no longer in use as a polling station. As above, details of your new polling station location are included on your polling information card.
The townlands that historically voted at Teagasc Offices have been moved to St John’s National School and St Michael’s National School (see below).

Check you are registered to vote
It is the responsibility of each individual to check to ensure they are Registered to vote and that their details are correct.
The closing date to register to vote for the upcoming elections is Monday 20 May 2024.
The easiest way to check and update your details is by logging on to CheckTheRegister.ie.

To vote in the upcoming Local Elections and European Parliament Elections and you must be:
- An Irish Citizen
- At least 18 years of age on polling day
- Ordinarily resident at the address in the constituency in which you wish to vote
- Your name must be on the Register of Electors
Irish Citizens and EU Citizens can vote at the European Parliament and local elections.
Non-EU Citizens can vote at the local elections.
Postal and Special Voters
The date to apply to be included on postal or special voter lists for the upcoming elections has now passed.
