Aughnacliffe Amenity Trail Enhancements

The Aughnacliffe Amenity Trail has been revitalized to make the area's rich history and heritage more accessible to the wider public. Through enhanced signage and improved trail infrastructure, visitors can now explore and learn about key local landmarks:

  • The Deserted Village
  • The Aughnacliffe Dolmens
  • The Waterfall

A Trail Through Time

Aughnacliffe is an area steeped in history, and the local community has carried out extensive work to bring that heritage to life. This project helps tell the story of the landscape, its people, and its past, making it easier for everyone to engage with and appreciate.

Project Outcome

While the project has only recently been completed and its full impact is yet to be assessed, the new signage and interpretive information have already been very well received. These enhancements support the newly completed Aughnacliffe Heritage Trail and complement the previously developed Pulliness Waterfall Walk.

Together, these initiatives create a compelling tourism offering while also opening up the natural amenities of the countryside to the local community - encouraging active lifestyles, fostering local pride, and preserving heritage for future generations.
