Lanesborough Enhancement Project

Lanesborough Enhancement Project

Funded by the Town and Village Renewal Scheme and Longford County Council

The Lanesborough Enhancement Project improves connectivity and pedestrian safety between residential areas along the Ballymahon road at Tullyvrane with Lanesborough town centre.

It included footpath upgrade works, with the laying of a 55mm depth close-graded macadam surface and surface dressing at high-use sections. Six benches were installed along the route and ducting is in place for future public lighting.

The project enhances public safety on the route into Lanesborough town for both pedestrians and vehicles travelling along the Ballymahon road. It also greatly enhances the visual presentation of the town.

The Lanesborough Enhancement Project was led by Longford County Council, with support from the Lanesborough Ballyleague Collaboration Group.

It received funding of €71,820 from the Department of Rural and Community Development under their Town and Village Renewal Scheme. Match funding of €7,980 was provided by Longford County Council.

The project was completed in 2023.
