Moyne Amphitheatre - A New Heart for Community and Creativity

Opened on Friday, 8 September 2023, the Moyne Amphitheatre is a vibrant new outdoor space designed to serve both educational and recreational needs in the heart of Moyne village. Located near the Latin School Heritage Centre and adjacent to local schools, the amphitheatre is already a valued resource for outdoor education, music, and drama performances.

This project was delivered through a strong partnership between Longford County Council's Regeneration team and local stakeholders including Dromard Tidy Towns, Dromard Area Men's Shed, Moyne Community School, and St Patrick's National School. Together, they transformed an overgrown and underused site into a welcoming venue that enhances the village's sense of place.

The works involved clearing the site and constructing a purpose-built amphitheatre structure. The result is a space that not only supports local schools and community groups but also contributes to Moyne's growing tourism offering. By addressing dereliction and improving the visual appeal of the village centre, the amphitheatre complements other regeneration initiatives in the area.
