In the heart of Ballinalee village, Rose Cottage has been beautifully restored and reimagined as a War of Independence Centre and coffee shop. Once the headquarters of General Sean MacEoin during the legendary Battle of Ballinalee, this historic cottage now invites visitors to explore the powerful story of a community that stood its ground.

  • Relax and recharge in the on-site café
  • Experience a living landmark in the village core

This unique centre is part of the Rebel Trail, a heritage tourism route through North Longford developed by Longford County Council and local communities. Promoted through Fáilte Ireland's Hidden Heartlands, the trail connects visitors to key sites from the 1798 Rebellion to the War of Independence, including Ballinamuck, Granard, and now - Rose Cottage.
