At The instigation of Minister Murphy a Covid-19 Community Response Forum will be put in place for each City/County and co-ordinated by the Local Authority in each case.
In line with the new COVID -19 measures and direction from An Taoiseach, the offices of Longford County Council will not be open to the public from Monday morning, 30th March.
- Motor Tax– the public counter will be closed but online services will operate as normal - Click here for Motortax online
- Cash Office – the public counter will be closed
- Housing – drop in provision between the hours of 11:00am and 1:00pm. One person at a time will be permitted with appropriate sanitising facilities available and safety protocols adhered to.
- Planning – on an appointment basis only as the Local Authority is required to still accept and validate planning applications
- A limited customer phone service will be provided
The situation will continue to be reviewed in light of any public health updates and the Local Authority will continue to keep the public updated as the situation evolves.

Digital Partner Pack Update
The digital partner pack now includes the COVID-19 Information Booklet, which is being delivered to all households from this week onward. Can be downloaded here
The COVID-19 Information Booklet is also available in Irish and in audiobook. It will be available in a number of languages and formats - including audio and braille, and will be included on the digital partner pack as they are ready.
H.S.E. are working with The Irish Deaf Society to develop sign language version of the COVID-19 Information Booklet and to have sign language versions for testing centre instructions plus aftercare.

Michael Ring TD, Minister for Rural and Community Development, has announced a fund of €200,000 to support the provision of an additional 5,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks in order to meet the significant increase in demand for access to the public library online service during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Even though you physically can’t go into our libraries at the moment, the library service is still very much available to people online.

Deferral of rates
Longford County Council will defer rates payments due from businesses most immediately impacted by COVID-19, primarily in the retail, hospitality, leisure and childcare sectors, for at least a 3 month period. Click here for further information
The motor tax office will remain open. However we are recommending that the public use the online service which are available for use at http://www.motortax.ie. Queries will continue to be taken by phone at 043-3343400.
