Commemorative Plaques and Monuments

Commemoration plaques, memorials and monuments can serve many purposes in our community. They can help us to honour a person or group of people, including their contribution to society. They can give recognition to significant local events. They also give a sense of place and help to celebrate the uniqueness of County Longford. 

The Commemorative Plaques and Monuments Policy sets out the process for considering the commemoration of events or individuals who have shaped County Longford. Commemoration is done by either the

  1. Naming of public infrastructure, or
  2. Installation of monuments, memorials and plaques in the public areas
