How to pay your rent
Rents are payable on a weekly basis in advance. Tenants have a variety of options for paying their weekly rent. Visa/Mastercard debit and credit cards are accepted.
Household Budget Scheme
If you are in receipt of Social Welfare and collect your payment in the Post Office, then your rent can be deducted at source through the Household Budget Scheme.

Pay online
You must register to pay online at the MyCoCo Website or App. If you have already registered, login using your email address and password.

Standing order
Pay through your bank by completing a standing order form. Contact rentpaymentqueries@longfordcoco.ie or 043 334 3414 if you require a Standing Order Form.

The office is open for walk in customers between 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm Monday to Friday.
How is my rent calculated?
Rents in all houses are based on the Differential Rent Scheme which was last reviewed in 2023. Rents are calculated on the basis of household income in accordance with the scheme.
The Housing Department Rents team deal with all queries in relation to how your rent is calculated, and any changes to your rent. You can contact them by emailing rents@longfordcoco.ie or calling 043 334 34 99.
Do I have to tell Longford County Council if my household personal or financial circumstances change?
Yes, you must tell us immediately about any changes to you or your household’s financial circumstances or household composition. This means you must tell us when someone in your home:
- Takes up employment
- Has their employment terminated
- A household member moves out of the property (you will have to complete form Request to Remove a Household Member & provide proof of their new address)
- Starts receiving a social welfare payment
- Household income increases or decreases
- If a joint tenant or household member passes away
- If any household member has a baby who will live in the property
- Reaches 18 years of age
- Moves into your home (they must get permission from Longford County Council to move into your home)
How do I tell the Council when my circumstances change?
You can tell us about the change by downloading and filling out the Rent Review Form and emailing any supporting documents to rents@longfordcoco.ie When your documents are received, your rent will be reassessed and readjusted where necessary. We will also advise you what additional documents we may need from you in order to bring your rent account up to date.

What do I do if I can’t pay my rent?

What can I do if I am in arrears (owe rent)?
You must arrange to pay what you owe by paying more than your weekly rent each week.
It is important that you make an agreement with the Rent Arrears Team about how to pay rent owed in this way – and that you stick to this agreement.

What can I do if my rent account is in credit?
Refunds will be granted by request, where a credit is due, following a reassessment of household income. To apply, please contact rents@longfordcoco.ie
How do I check my balance?
You can download a statement online any time through the MyCoCo website or App or request one thought the Income Generation Unit at rentpaymentqueries@longfordcoco.ie, or by phone on 043 334 34 14.

Realex processes all financial transactions securely, ensuring credit/debit card information is not transmitted outside the secure site.

For all the payment types above it is important to keep your receipt in the event of any query on your account. Online payment receipts are available to download for customers who are registered with MyCoCo and are emailed to the account used at registration.
