Men's Health Week

Men's Health Week takes place from Monday, 9 June to Sunday, 15 June, under the theme of 'Shoulder-to-Shoulder: Connecting for Health'. Focusing on the specific health needs of men and boys, the week aims to support men and boys:
- to engage in healthier lifestyles and activities
- to build awareness of preventable health problems affecting males of all ages
- to encourage early detection and treatment of health problems for men and boys
Men's Health Week is funded by the Health Service Executive. Local events taking place in County Longford are organised by Longford County Council, including Healthy Longford, Sláintecare Healthy Communities, Longford Community Safety Partnership, Longford Sports Partnership, Longford Libraries, and Longford Night Time Economy.

Men's Exercise Class
Monday 9 June, at 11am-1pm in Ballymahon Library: Take part in taster exercise, with barber free haircuts.
Men's Exercise Class
Wednesday, 11 June from 11am-1pm in Edgeworthstown Library: taster exercises with barber free haircuts and Civil Defence Blood pressure checks.
Scooch
Thursday, 12 June from 10.30am-12pm in Granard Library and Time Ballymahon: pairs and groups can take part in scooch, which is similar to shuffleboard.
Men's Health Day takes place on Friday, 13 June
Takes place on Friday, 13 June with a full day of activities. All activities will take place in Longford Athletics Centre, except those stated to take place at The Mall, Longford or elsewhere in Longford Town (see below). When No One is Watching (WNOW) with Longford GAA All-Star Mickey Quinn
From 6.30am-7.30am: Kickstart your morning by joining in on this positive space for men to connect with one another and focus on their health and wellbeing.
Triumph over Adversity
7am-3pm: with Enda Farrell of Triumph Over Adversity will be there with a portable ice bath and compression boots. Bring your swimwear. There are changing rooms at the venue.
Ahead of the Game
From 8am-9am: Join Longford GAA All-Star footballer Mickey Quinn to learn about Ahead of the Game, a series of interactive workshops teaching players, parents, coaches and volunteers to better understand mental health and build resilience to deal with life's challenges.
Free Blood Pressure and Pulse Checks
From 10am-2.45pm: the Irish Heart Foundation mobile unit will be on hand to take free blood pressure and pulse checks for attendees.
Gambling Addiction Support
10am-2pm: Gambling support help will be on hand all day to talk to and to seek advice from
Stop Smoking Support
10am-2pm: the HSE will be providing Stop Smoking Support for attendees on the day
Mental Health Ireland
10am-2pm: Mental Health Ireland will be on hand to chat to.
Men's Exercise Class
10am-11am: with the Longford Men's Shed.
Tai Chi
11am-12pm: take part in our Tai Chi session.
Triathlon Challenge
12:30pm-2:30pm: test yourself with 500m of rowing, a 400m relay run (4 x 100m each) and a 2km spin (stationary bike). Four people per team. Register on TicketTailor.ie.
Healthy Lunch and Hydration Break
1pm-1:30pm: with protein-packed meals and snacks and a Men’s Nutrition and Hydration talk with Sinead Costello, Community Food and Nutrition Worker from Sláintecare Healthy Communities.
Boxercise
2pm-3pm: take part in our boxercise class.
Pétanque
2pm-3pm in The Mall, Longford: Popular in mainland Europe, try something new and take part in Pétanque, which is similar to boules.
Lads and Dads Walk
7pm starting at Market Square: with routes around Longford town, followed by free tea and coffee.
