Climate Action Plan 2024-2029

Longford County Council's Climate Action Plan 2024-2029 was adopted by Longford County Council on 14 February 2024.

The plan is published online and may be read by clicking on this link: Climate Action Plan 2024-2029.

The plan outlines the Council’s commitment to leading the delivery of transformative change and measurable climate action in our towns, villages and rural communities by delivering services in an environmentally sustainable manner and by working with the community, agricultural and business sectors to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

The plan may be viewed in hard copy in any Longford County Council Library from Monday, 25 March 2024.

Longford County Council incorporates climate action into all its services to help reach its climate goals, increase awareness and help communities with their climate action efforts.

This report outlines the major undertakings of the Council in 2025.

It also includes a summary with respect to all the actions in the overall Climate Action Plan. 

Climate Action Charter

The Climate Action Charter demonstrates Longford County Council’s commitment to providing local leadership and supporting communities to support addressing this climate change. For this work, Longford County Council works in partnership with the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment and other stakeholders. 

This Charter was adopted on 11 December 2019.

Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

Longford County Council Climate Change Adaptation Strategy outlines how the Council will prepare and plan to adapt to the effects of climate change to make sure we can maintain our services to the people of Longford in all situations.
