Casual Trading Bye-Laws 2026
In accordance with the provisions of Section 6 (10) of the Casual Trading Act 1995 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Longford County Council has made Casual Trading Bye-Laws, for the control, regulation, supervision and administration of casual trading on lands owned, controlled by or in the charge of Longford County Council within its administrative area. The Bye-Laws will come into effect on 1 October 2026.
A copy of the bye-laws can be inspected or purchased at a reasonable price, during normal office hours at the offices of Longford County Council, Áras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford. The bye-law can also be inspected or viewed here.
Applications for Casual Trading Licences
Applications are now invited from individuals wishing to engage in casual trading within the designated casual trading areas throughout County Longford.
To allow sufficient time for the processing and allocation of pitches, all applications for Casual Trading Licences must be received by the Environment Section of Longford County Council no later than 1 September 2026.

Applicants should ensure that their application is fully completed and accompanied by all required supporting documentation, including:
- Completed and signed application form.
- Two passport photographs of the applicant.
- Proof of identity (passport or driving licence).
- Details of any nominated agents (where applicable).
- Photograph of the stall and associated equipment.
- Waste Management Plan (where required).
- Valid Tax Clearance Certificate or Tax Clearance Access Number (TCAN).
- HSE registration details (for food trading applications).
- Relevant application fee.
Please note that the acceptance of an application does not guarantee the granting of a licence. Applications will be assessed in accordance with the Casual Trading Bye-Laws 2026 and the Council's allocation policy.
