CCTV for Litter and Dumping Prevention and Enforcement
This public consultation period has now passed.
Longford County Council is undertaking public consultation on the provision of CCTV cameras in public areas in County Longford.
This is for the prevention of litter and illegal dumping, with the implementation of CCTV in the following areas:
- Feraghfad/Cooleeney
- Corlea, Keenagh
- Bring Banks, Dunnes Stores, Longford
- Bring Banks, Market Square, Longford
- Bring Banks, Granard, Longford
- Mc Eoin Park, Longford
- Gleann Riada, Longford
- Bridge Street bridge/Camlin River, Longford
- Main Street, Longford
- Grafton Court, Longford
Longford County Council intends to install and operate CCTV cameras for the sole primary purpose of preventing litter and illegal dumping and enforcement of the Litter Pollution Act, 1997, and the Waste Management Act 1996. This initiative will adhere to the Codes of Practice for the Operation of CCTV for the Purposes of Prevention, Detection and Prosecution of Litter and Waste Offences.
Observations and Submissions
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed installation and use of CCTV cameras at the above locations should be made in writing to the Environment Department, Longford County Council, Great Water Street, Longford N39 NH56. Alternatively, you may email submissions or observations to environment@longfordcoco.ie.
The closing date for submissions is Tuesday, 6 August 2024.
