2nd round of the COVID-19 Emergency Fund 2020

In December 2020, the Department of Rural and Community Development announced this second round of funding which was to be administered by Longford Local Community Development Committee (LCDC). This 2nd round of the COVID-19 Emergency Fund has funding of €1.7m nationally with €42,964 of this allocated to Longford LCDC.  The Department recommended that LCDCs ring-fence 30% of funding to provide small grants of €1,000 or less.

Applications were invited from not-for-profit community/voluntary groups for funding with a closing date of 25th January, 2021.  Eligible projects include assisting community groups -

to adapt their services and operations to fit the new COVID-19 reality. Examples of measures supported could be adapting premises to allow for social distancing; offering on-line activities; providing social supports and friendly calls by phone etc.
to become more involved in the Government's 'Keep Well' campaign. The grants are aimed at assisting participation in the campaign, in particular with the three themes: staying connected, switching off and being creative, and minding your mood.
The grants may also be provided to support groups (including those involved in the community call) with day to day running costs if needed.

Longford LCDC awarded €42,964 to 35 Community Groups following their meeting on the 9th February 2021. Please see details of Community Groups and approved grants here - Grant-Award-List.pdf (size 196.2 KB)
