Empowering Communities Programme

The Department of Rural and Community Development developed the Empowering Communities Programme to bring together the area -based programmes that are currently underway. This programme will further support some local areas who are experiencing significant challenges despite a range of existing services, funding and activities. €2 million nationally was allocated by Minister of State Joe O’Brien to the ECP for year 1.

The Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) have a role in supporting and enabling this programme. Longford Community Resources Clg are delivering the programme in Longford and employ a Community Engagement Worker to engage with agencies and the local community.
