Relove Fashion

Relove Fashion is a sustainable fashion competition tailor-made for Irish secondary schools and empowering students to explore fashion production while fostering an understanding of its environmental impact. 

By participating, your students will not only design and create a one-of-a-kind sustainable fashion piece, but also gain hands-on experience in real-world sustainability projects. Aligned seamlessly with the secondary school curriculum, this competition opens doors to innovative learning that extends beyond textbooks.

Through research, documentation, and creation, this competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage hands-on with sustainable fashion, think about how their clothing is made, and explore creative reuse options such as upcycling, repairs, alterations and mending. Every year we are blown away by the creativity and high quality of the submissions!

Get Inspired by Previous Longford Relove Fashion Winners

Ella Mulligan from Cnoc Mhuire Secondary School in Granard was crowned the Overall Winner at the Relove Fashion Competition Final 2022. Ella's outfit was made from an old wardrobe cover, her dad’s old jeans, pearls from an old bracelet and old shoes. Ella researched the fabrics she used to create her outfit in depth and tie-dyed her skirt yellow with turmeric.

Lily Hemus of Cnoc Mhuire Granard won the Most Innovative Category in the Relove Fashion Competition 2021. Lily sourced her materials from a charity shop, a neighbour and the school bins. The materials and clothing are made from plastic, aluminium, polycotton and polyester. Lily cited fast fashion as one of the leading causes of global warming, and believes it is important to make a stand against the mass production of poor-quality clothing if we want a full bright and clean future for our planet.
